FAQ’s (Frequently asked questions)
How scary is it?
We pride ourselves in up in your face terror. During your daring journey you will experience very dark areas, loud noises, and many live actors. When we say that Haunted Landon is not for small children or the faint of heart we mean it! Every year we have numerous guests that begin our tour and have to bail out early because it is too intense for them.
Are there long lines?
Haunted Landon is a popular event so you can expect to wait a short while for your tour. Friday and Saturday are our busiest nights so coming on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday is also a good idea to lessen your wait time. You will have to be alert from the time you enter our parking lot until the time you leave. Not all of our monsters are patient enough to wait for you to start the tour. Some of them have been known to lurk around the parking lot and waiting areas.
How long is each tour?
That really depends on the pace the group moves and whether or not people get separated along the way. You do have 12,000 square feet to make it through! Normally you can expect your daring journey to last around 20 minutes. The new Civil War Zombies tour is 1/4 mile trail through the darkness of the Landon woods and also takes about 20 minutes to make it through.
Is the tour different each year?
Yes. We mix things up every year by rearranging the route of the tour and expanding and adding new scares and scenes. We don’t want anyone feeling too comfortable inside the mansion. We have also added an all new 2nd haunted attraction this year called Civil War Zombies that takes you deep into the dark wooded area at Landon.
Is the Landon House really haunted?
Yes. The Landon house is inhabited with many real ghosts. It has a long history which includes being a civil war hospital where many soldiers lost their lives. Strange things are always happening at the Landon House including doors opening and closing by themselves, footsteps and laughter being heard, dogs barking, and chains rattling in the old slave quarters in the basement.
Are you open regardless of how bad the weather is?
Yes. Haunted Landon is almost totally an inside event so we will remain open during any weather (rain, snow, cold, ect…) You will stay dry and warm as you await your turn inside our historic ballroom. This is the only safe room in the mansion or is it? The new Civil War Zombies attraction is outside at Landon but will remain open unless severe weather occurs. A little rain will not keep these Zombies from prowling!
Are Haunted Landon and the Ghost Walks the same?
No. The ghost walks are a candlelit guided tour to learn about the Civil War history and REAL ghostly happenings of the Landon House. Haunted Landon is a much more intense event with up in your face terror and many live actors. Haunted Landon also uses strobes, smoke machines, loud noises, gruesome props, elaborate scenes and other special effects. The ghost walks are one single tour on the given night listed and Haunted Landon is an event that sends many smaller groups through over the span of many hours.
